Shea Moisture Coconut Custard Make It Last Wash N’ Go Curl Primer
How To Make It Last With Shea Moisture Wash And Go
I was thrilled to get an email from Influenster! They were sending me the Shea Moisture Wash N Go Primer for review. As someone with natural hair, I usually stick to proven products. However, I’m always open to trying new things occasionally.
I’ve used this brand’s products before, but this curl primer was new to me. I often get questions about my hair care routine, so I’m sharing my entire process in this post.

My Regular Wash And Go Natural Hair Routine
My 4c wash and go routine is straightforward. I typically start by washing my hair with Creme Of Nature Conditioning Co-Wash or As I Am Coconut Co-Wash. Next, I condition my hair using Cantu Moisturizing Conditioner.
Post-shampoo, I towel-dry my hair until it’s damp, not dripping. Then, I divide it into easy-to-manage sections. Next, I apply products section by section, using a modified L.O.C. method: leave-in conditioner, curl cream, and then oil. I find this order works best for my hair.

Styling My 4c Natural Hair
I begin with Design Essentials leave-in conditioner. Next, I apply Design Essentials curl creme using the shingling technique. This is also when I gently detangle my hair with my fingers. Occasionally, I replace the curl creme with ECO Styler gel.
After completing all the steps, I apply Aunt Jackie’s All Purpose Oil generously throughout my hair. This whole routine typically takes around two hours.Washing takes about an hour, and applying products and detangling takes another hour.
Putting The Wash & Go Curl Primer To The Test
This past weekend, during my hair-wash routine, I decided to experiment. I used the Shea Moisture Coconut Custard Make It Last Wash N Go Curl Primer for the first time.
I used a lot of this product on my hair, using it instead of my usual Creme of Nature Co-Wash. this time, I chose eco Styler gel to style my hair, instead of shea Moisture curl creme.
I allowed my hair to air dry for the rest of the afternoon. Before sleep, I secured it in a low bun with my silk scarf.

First Impressions Of Shea Moisture Wash And Go Curl Primer
From the moment I applied the wash-and-go curl primer, I was amazed by how incredibly soft my hair felt. Detangling, which used to be a 45-minute chore, was done in just 30 minutes! That was a huge win for me.
I’m always on the lookout for products that drastically reduce my hair styling time. This one definitely delivers! Plus, I’ve observed that it gives my hair a longer, more stretched appearance. This is a bonus for me, as I’m not a fan of the shrinkage that often happens with natural hair, notably after washing.

My Shea Moisture Curly Hair Experience:
The next day, after my hair completely dried,it remained soft and elongated without kinking. However, I observed white flakes throughout my hair, suggesting it needed washing.
Let’s discuss disappointment! To make matters worse, I was wearing all black that morning. Imagine the stark contrast of white residue on my clothes and even in my hair. Before heading out,I had to spend precious minutes meticulously removing the flakes.
It was a bittersweet experience. I truly loved the product’s results the day before, especially when my hair was still slightly wet.I think I need to retest it alone, without any other products. This will help me determine if the flaking issue persists.
Typically, my hair remains flake-free for at least a day post-wash. I’d be truly let down if using this curl primer, either alone or combined with other products, yielded similar or even poorer results.
My goal is to test this product with a 4c wash and go. I want to see if using it alone will give me different results.
